Bharatiya Janata Party’s MLC KP Nanjundi Resigns
Hubballi: On Tuesday, BJP’s MLC KP Nanjundi tendered his resignation from his position. He visited the residence of Karnataka Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraj Horatti in Hubballi to submit his resignation formally.
Horatti, inquired the reason for his resignation and later accepted it. Speaking to the reporters after the resignation, Nanjundi expressed his desire to advocate for backward communities, citing a sense of neglect within his current party. He initially entered politics with the aim of serving his community but felt constrained by his role as an MLC, prompting his decision to step down.
Nanjundi refrained from making any disparaging remarks about the Prime Minister or senior party leaders, instead expressing gratitude for the opportunities afforded to him.
Recent events indicate a potential shift, as just days ago, KPCC president DK Shivakumar visited Nanjundi’s residence in Bengaluru for an extensive breakfast discussion. Speculation is rife that Nanjundi, who hails from the Vishwakarma community, may join the Congress. With a substantial Vishwakarma voter base in the state, his potential inclusion could bolster the Congress’s prospects in the upcoming general election.”
